Alongside people as they find their way back to themselves
Gestalt psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer based in Nottingham, UK. Working with adults individually and with couples, in person at Malvern House and online. Involved in psychotherapy and counselling since 1987.
About
I'm a Gestalt psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer based in Nottingham, UK, working from Malvern House, and also online. For many years I've been alongside people as they find their way back to themselves - in their relationships, in the parts of life that feel stuck, and in simply meeting their own experience honestly, as it is.
For twenty years I edited the British Gestalt Journal, and I continue to lead workshops and training from Malvern House. I work with people in the UK and from Continental Europe. My expertise includes anxiety and depression, relationship issues, complex trauma as well as personal growth and development.
When words run out, I may draw on other ways in - sand tray, drawing, movement, sometimes clay - to reach what's hard to find the words for. It often takes time for deep feelings to surface, or for us to imagine new possibilities for our lives. I see this as an experimental process rather than applying fixed techniques.
I offer professional supervision for qualified and trainee psychotherapists individually and in groups, in person and online.
Individual therapy — £70 for a 50 minute session
Couples therapy — £95 for a 75 minute session
Professional supervision — £75
Areas of Work
A personal space to explore yourself, your relationships and whatever is getting in the way of living more fully. Available in person at Malvern House, Nottingham, and online.
Supporting two people to hear each other, find a new quality of contact and work out together how to move forward. In person and online.
Professional supervision for psychotherapists and counsellors, individually and in groups, usually fortnightly or monthly. I have been a supervisor since 2000 and I work with both trainees and experienced practitioners. Academic support with dissertations and written work is also available.
Training and Workshops — Short courses and workshops for training organisations and mental health services in the UK and internationally including Belgium, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Philippines, Poland and Slovenia. Held from time to time at Malvern House and at Clay Studio Nottingham at Primary Studios.
Creative Practice
Clay, sand, paint and found objects are available in the room and some of these materials can be adapted to online work. The process of discovering through touch can be powerful. In these ways, feelings and thoughts can be brought into awareness and become available to be worked with.
This is not art therapy, and it does not appeal to everyone, but for some people, working with materials is an important part of their therapeutic process, rather than relying on words alone. I have a first-class honours degree in Fine Art (2014) and have written on using creativity in therapy with individuals and couples, as well as in professional supervision.
My work is based at Malvern House in Nottingham and also from Primary, my studio in the city.
